The Shamrocks of Vienna, VA swept through the field at the ASA Girls’16-Under Hall of Fame National Qualifier with a 5-0 record this weekend at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex to earn a berth into the ASA Girls’ 16-Under National Championship. The Shamrocks defeated OK Jammers of Oklahoma City, 2-1, in the final game to take the title.
After a first-round bye the Shamrocks were dominant holding opponents to less than two runs a game. During its run, they defeated Austin Storm Red of Austin, TX 3-1, Albuquerque SOL of Albuquerque, NM 7-3, Oklahoma Rockets of Oklahoma City, OK 2-1 and the OK Jammers 5-1.
With its win the Shamrocks will be competing at the 2004 ASA Girls’ 16-Under Fast Pitch National Championship, August 2-8, in Bloomington, IL. Also earning berths to nationals from the 16-under Hall of Fame Qualifier are OK Jammers, Team FLA (Clearwater, FL), Ultimate Gold (Oklahoma City, OK), OK Rockets (Davenport, OK), Lasers Gold (Grafton, OH), Virginia Legends (Virginia Beach, VA) and Georgia Xtreme (Atlanta, GA).
24 more teams from across the nation will converge on Oklahoma City this weekend to try and earn a berth into the 18-Under Girls’ Fast Pitch Class A National Championship in Clovis, CA, August 2-8.
